1. Displaced alveolar process fracture in right posterior maxilla

The alveolar process within the right posterior maxilla is fractured and is buccally and inferiorly displaced. The fracture plane extends through the mesiobuccal and palatal extraction sockets at site 17. The distobuccal root of tooth 17 is retained within the fractured segment of the alveolar process. An oroantral communication is present as a result of this fracture, and moderate mucositis is present within the right maxillary sinus. Reduction of this fracture is indicated.

Axial views of maxilla

These axial cross-sectional images demonstrate the fracture plane extending through the mesiobuccal and palatal extraction sockets at site 17. The buccal displacement of the alveolar process fracture is evident in these images.

Sagittal views of right posterior maxilla

These sagittal cross-sectional images demonstrate mucositis in the right maxillary sinus, which is likely the result of an oroantral communication associated with the alveolar process fracture. Tooth 16 is not affected by this fracture.

Coronal views of maxilla

These coronal cross-sectional images demonstrate buccal and inferior displacement of the fractured fragment of the alveolar process in the right posterior maxilla. The medial sinus wall remains intact.

2. Moderate mucositis in the right maxillary sinus

Moderate mucositis is present within the right maxillary sinus, which is likely the result of an oroantral communication associated with the alveolar process fracture in the right posterior maxilla. The mucosal thickness in the left maxillary sinus is within the range of normal.

3. Retained root of tooth 17DB within fractured alveolar process

The distobuccal root of tooth 17 is retained within the fractured and displaced segment of the alveolar process in the right posterior maxilla. No periradicular or periapical pathology is present.

4. Healing extraction socket at site 37

Granular bone is present within the extraction socket at site 37. The density of this granular bone is slightly lower than that of the surrounding trabecular bone.

5. Calcified stylohyoid ligaments

The stylohyoid ligaments are partially calcified bilaterally. This is an incidental finding with no clinical significance.

6. Cerumen in external ear canal

Cerumen (earwax) is present in the left external ear canal. This is a non-significant incidental finding.
