1. Florid osseous dysplasia with simple bone cyst

A combination of sclerotic radiopaque foci and granular bone are present within the mandibular alveolar process and body apical to the incisors and canines. This heterogeneous region of bone formation is surrounded by a sclerotic periphery. The buccal and lingual cortical plates are focally thinned and mildly expanded, but remain intact. These radiographic findings are consistent with florid osseous dysplasia with a concomitant simple bone cyst in the apical region of tooth 32. No signs of secondary infection are present, and there is no indication for treatment.

Axial views of anterior mandible

These axial cross-sectional images demonstrate thinning of the buccal and lingual cortical plates adjacent to the area of florid osseous dysplasia in the anterior mandible. The prominent radiolucent region within the left anterior mandible is most suggestive of an associated simple bone cyst.

Mesiodistal views of anterior mandible

These mesiodistal cross-sectional images demonstrate a combination of sclerotic and granular bone formation within the anterior mandibular alveolar process and body. The region of low-density bone formation within the left anterior mandible is likely reflective of a simple bone cyst that has formed in conjunction with this area of florid osseous dysplasia.

Buccolingual views of anterior mandible

These buccolingual cross-sectional images demonstrate thinning and mild expansion of the buccal and lingual cortical plates adjacent to the area of dysplastic bone formation in the anterior mandible. No signs of secondary infection of this area are present.
