1. Small complex odontome palatal to tooth 11
A small odontome with an amorphous shape is present in the alveolar process palatal to the coronal half of the root of tooth 11. This odontome is comprised of enamel and dentin, and is surrounded by a normal follicle. The root of tooth 11 has been buccally displaced by the odontome, but does not exhibit any root resorption or damage. The odontome can be surgically accessed from the palatal aspect of the alveolar crest at site 11.
Buccally displaced tooth 11
Tooth 11 has been slightly buccally displaced by the odontome that is forming at the palatal aspect of the alveolar crest at site 11. No root resorption or damage has occurred to tooth 11. The odontome is positioned palatally to the coronal half of the root of tooth 11.
Axial views of maxillary midline
These axial cross-sectional images demonstrate the palatal position of the odontome relative to tooth 11. The normal appearance of the follicle surrounding this odontome is evident in these images. The nasopalatine duct is positioned palatally and medially relative to the odontome.
Mesiodistal views of maxillary midline
These mesiodistal cross-sectional images demonstrate the amorphous shape of the complex odontome. The normal appearance of the follicle around the circumference of the odontome is evident in these images.
Buccolingual views of tooth 11
These buccolingual cross-sectional images demonstrate the position of the odontome with the alveolar crest at the palatal aspect of tooth 11. No bone overlies the alveolar crest adjacent to the odontome.
