Large dentigerous cyst has displaced tooth 28 superiorly and medially
A large well-defined unilocular radiolucent entity is present in the posterior left maxilla. This entity has a well-defined periphery, and appears to have originated within the left tuberosity. The sinus floor has been displaced by the entity. Tooth 28 has been superiorly and medially displaced, and is positioned at the medial wall of the right maxillary sinus at the level of the left middle nasal turbinate. Tooth 28 exhibits internal resorption of its root in the region adjacent to the entity. The peri-coronal position of the lesion relative to tooth 28 suggests that the cystic entity represents a dentigerous cyst.
Orthogonal views of displaced tooth 28
These orthogonal cross-sectional images demonstrate the position of tooth 28 at the medial wall of the left maxillary sinus. The resorption that is present within the root of the tooth is evident in these images. This resorption extends into the crown of the tooth.
Axial views of posterior right maxilla
These axial cross-sectional images demonstrate the large unilocular radiolucent cystic entity that is present in the posterior right maxilla, which originates in the right maxillary tuberosity. The lateral wall of the sinus has been thinned and expanded in the region adjacent to site 28. Tooth 28 has been superiorly and medially displaced by the entity. The well-defined thin cortex that surrounds the cystic lesion is evident in these images.
Coronal views of posterior second quadrant
These coronal cross-sectional images demonstrate the position of 28 at the medial wall of the left maxillary sinus at the level of the middle turbinate. The large dentigerous cyst that has displaced tooth 28 is also evident in these images. Note the thinning and expansion of the lateral wall of the sinus in the region adjacent to site 28.
Sagittal views of posterior left maxilla
These sagittal cross-sectional images demonstrate the large cystic lesion that originates in the left maxillary tuberosity, and has displaced tooth 28 superiorly and medially.
Impacted tooth 18
The impacted tooth 18 is in buccoversion. The follicle surrounding the crown of tooth 18 is hypoplastic. The roots of the tooth are positioned at the floor of the right maxillary sinus. No damage has occurred to the distal root of tooth 17.
