1. Surgical bur displaced into right maxillary sinus + maxillary sinus mucositis
A surgical bur has been displaced into the right maxillary sinus. This bur is oriented horizontally, with the long axis in an anteroposterior position. Mild mucositis is present around this surgical bur.
Orthogonal views of surgical bur in right maxillary sinus
These orthogonal cross-sectional images demonstrate the approximate position of the surgical bur relative to the walls and floor of the right maxillary sinus.
2. Recent extraction socket at site 15
A recent extraction socket is present at site 15. Minimal reparative bone formation is present at this time.
Axial views of right maxillary sinus
These axial cross-sectional images demonstrate the presence of mucositis surrounding the surgical bur within the right maxillary sinus.
Mesiodistal views of right maxilla
These mesiodistal cross-sectional images demonstrate the anteroposterior orientation of the surgical bur within the right maxillary sinus. The sinus floor is focally dehiscent adjacent to the base of the extraction socket at site 15, which is the probable point of entry of this bur into the antral cavity.
Buccolingual views of right maxilla
These buccolingual cross-sectional images demonstrate the position of the surgical bur within the inferior aspect of the right maxillary sinus. Mild mucositis is evident, but the remainder of the antral cavity is aerated.
