1. Internal resorption of tooth 42

Internal resorption is present in the apical third of the root of tooth 42. This resorption is confined to the unobturated apical segment of the root canal of the tooth, and does not extend to the root surface. The periapical periodontal ligament space is slightly widened and the periapical bone is sclerotic. No signs of root fracture or perforation are present.

Axial views of tooth 42

These axial cross-sectional images demonstrate the intact alveolar bone surrounding the root of tooth 42. The small zone of internal resorption in the apical unobturated section of the root of tooth 42 is evident in these images.

Mesiodistal views of tooth 42

These coronal cross-sectional images demonstrate the intact alveolar bone on the buccal and lingual surfaces of the root of tooth 42.

Buccolingual views of tooth 42

The intact buccal cortical plate adjacent to the root of tooth 42 is evident in these images.

Normal tooth 41

The root of tooth 41 appears normal radiographically. No signs of endodontic or periradicular pathology are present. The periodontal ligament space is of uniform width around the tooth and the lamina dura is intact.

2. Dense bone island between teeth 33 and 34

A dense bone island is present at the lingual aspect of the alveolar crest between teeth 33 and 34. This is a non-significant incidental finding that has not had any effect on the surrounding structures.
