Evaluation of mandibular implant sites
Adequate bone exists for implant placement at sites 45, 44, 43, 42, 41, 31, 33, 34, 35, 36 and 37. Marginal bone levels are present at sites 47, 46 and 32.
Axial views of maxillary arch
These axial cross-sectional images demonstrate the rarefying osteitis at site 32, as well as the narrow buccolingual bone width of the alveolar crest at sites 46 and 47. Adequate bone is available for implant placement in the remaining putative mandibular sites.
Retained roots of multiple teeth
The roots of teeth 31, 32, and 41 are retained. All three teeth exhibit periapical or periradicular rarefying osteitis.
1. Caries on tooth 45
Caries are present on the distal surface of tooth 45 at the level of the cementoenamel junction. Caries are also present on the distolingual root surface of tooth 45 at the level of the coronal third of the root. The tooth has not been endodontically compromised, but is at risk of coronal fracture.
2. Dense bone island apical to tooth 45
A dense bone island is present in the alveolar process at site 45. This dense bone island has not had any effect on the surrounding structures and is a non-significant incidental finding.
Physiologic variant of nasopalatine duct
The nasopalatine duct has a wide coronal dimension. This is a variant of normal morphology and is a non-significant incidental finding.
3. Mild mucositis of right maxillary sinus
The right maxillary sinus exhibits mild mucositis, which represents an incidental finding with no clinical significance.
